On July 11 crews from Solomons assisted Calvert County Sheriffs officers at Camp Cops held at Cove Point Park. Camp Cops is a 5 day camp sponsored by the Calvert County Sheriffs department to teach our counties youth self discipline, physical fitness and just to have a little fun. Crews briefed the young teens about being a part and carrying on the counties 100% volunteer Fire/EMS service in the future. Discussion was had about the benefits of being a volunteer and the importance of their school studies and how it relates to the Fire/EMS services. In the end, all of the kids got a little line time to give a better respect of how physically demanding firefighting can be when using a charged hose line. Solomons would like to thank the CCSO for the invite and the privilege to assist with such aspiring young teens.
