The Solomons Volunteers are proud to place into service tonight the new Ambulance 39. Ambulance 39 is a 2016 PL Custom Frieghtliner purchased through DPC Emergency. This unit is our third and final ambulance added to our fleet of commercial grade ambulances. Like all our other ambulances, Ambulance 39 features a unique memorial of a local lighthouse on the Patuxent River in Southern Maryland.

This unit features Cedar Point Lighthouse. Today Cedar Point is no longer standing but it served as important beacon for sailors navigating the opening of the Patuxent River. Located off the shore of Patuxent River Naval base, this lighthouse was not necessarily in our first due at the time but it did serve as a significant lighthouse along with Drum Point and Cove Point to the nautical history of the Patuxent River. Today the cupola from Cedar Point can be found at the Patuxent River Naval Museum in Lexington Park and the gable and bricks were used to build the pavilion at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons.

Be on the look out as we soon will post pictures from a photo shoot of this new unit for all to see.
