Volunteers gathered at 1900 hrs tonight for a drill on vehicle stabilization conducted by Chief Ford. Vehicle stabilization is the process where the crew will secure the vehicle and ensure it stable to perform operations that involve extrication of a patient. The team started the evening in the training trailers reviewing the different components of the Rescue 42 stabilization system and their usage. After extensive review an continuation of the drill was conducted with outside practice of dirty quick struct stabilization in order to secure vehicles. Members learned about the many different ways the Rescue 42 structs could be set up to ensure safety of both providers and patients. After an hour of practice teams of four members were construct and a time competition was conducted. The goal of the challenge was to stabilize the vehicle within in a four minute interval. Both teams demonstrated excellent understanding of the skills learned. In the following weeks more stabilization drills of this nature are planned to be conducted honing all of our skills.
