At approximately 0939 hrs volunteers at Solomons and surrounding departments were alerted to an active gas leak on Solomons Island. Volunteers quickly responded to the location staffing Engine 34, Truck 3 and Ambulance 39. Upon arriving on location it was found that utility crews who were working in the area struck a gas line with their bucket. Crews quickly manned a attack line in order to protect the homes in the surrounding area while awaiting Washington Gas to responded to secure the leak. Other local departments provided backup support to the crew while the scene was being secured. Solomons Volunteers would like to thank Papa Johns for providing food for rehab support during the extended time on location. All units clear the location at 1230 hrs.
