This evening in a firehouse tradition, the volunteers at the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department placed in service the new Ambulance 38 by pushing it into the firehouse. The ambulance is a 2014 Freightliner PL Custom Ambulance. Besides being the first commercial chassis ambulance in the Solomons station, this unit also features a Stryker power stretcher, sliding side door, and a "Medic in Mind" curb side layout. The PL Custom Titan body is 170" long with interior headroom of 75". Ambulance 38 was customed lettered by Hamilton Parlett. Who has spent the last week fine turning the traditional gold lettering on the exterior of the unit. The volunteers would like to thank DPC Emergency, PL Custom and Parlett Signs for constructing this unit for our station. This ambulance will serve as the layout which will be used as our other two ambulance come up for being replaced in the years to come.
