Last year during this time the Solomons Volunteers decided to begin a new yearly tradition within the department. The volunteers find families in need within our community and provide them a holiday surprise. The volunteers in the months of November and December collect toys, food, and seasonal decorations which are hand delivered to the selected families. This year again two families where selected and the volunteers took with them a Christmas tree, presents to be opened by the children for Christmas, and all the helpings for a wonderful Christmas dinner. Last month we also expanded this tradition by distributing a Thanksgiving dinner to several families within the community. The Volunteers would like to thank everyone who provide donations this year to our cause include Saint Leonard Fire Department who donated two of their Christmas trees from their lot towards this cause. As our tradition continues we hope to expand it towards more families in our community to ensure that everyone has a Merry Christmas in Southern Maryland.
