At approximately 2023 hrs Solomons and other volunteer stations were alerted to the reported basement fire on Power Drive in White Sands. Promptly Engine 31 led by Captain 3 responded to the call. While en route reports were coming in that this was a working kitchen fire with smoke conditions around the house. Upon arrival Engine 31 laid out a supply line from the corner of Power Drive and White Sands Dr and proceeded down Power Drive where it picked up Engine 72's supply line. While operations were getting setup for water supply, the crew from Engine 31 proceeded to the front of the building where they were instructed to pick up a attack line from Engine 72 and assist with the extinguishment of the fire. Engine 31's crew made entrance into the basement division from the bravo side where the original origin of the fire was reported. The crew was met with heavy smoke and heat conditions. The crew went to work extinguishing the fire. Extension was found and extinguished. Once the overall extinguishment was performed the crew stayed on scene assisting with ventilation and overhaul. All units cleared at approximately 2200 hrs.
