Odor of Propane

At approximately 2050 hrs the Solomons Volunteers and neighboring stations were alert to the smell of propane in the building at Southern Pines. Promptly Engine 31, Truck 3, Ambulance 38 and Chief 3 responded to the scene. Upon arrival Chief 3 established command and had Engine 31 layout from the hydrant and Truck 3 position itself with its aerial ladder ready to respond. Crews immediately ensure that local residents had evaluated the building and proceed to investigate the location on the smell. Upon location crews secured the hazard and ventilated the building. After approximately 30 minutes the building was deemed safe of all hazards by Chief 3 and all units returned to service.
