At approximately 545 hrs Solomons Volunteers staffed Engine 31 and Truck 3 to participate in a burn drill being conducted by Dunkirk Fire Department. Solomons volunteers met up with Dunkirk, North Beach and Huntingtown Volunteers at some old facilities donated by the Twin Shields Golf Course to burn. After through instructions and walkthroughs volunteers from all departments participated in simulated basement fire operations, and interior/exterior operations. The old golf pro shop was setup to simulate a commercial structure where volunteers had to utilize a 2" attack line in order to bring the fire under control and then advance an 1" 3/4 line in order to finish extinguishment. After drill operations were completed volunteers burned both buildings to the ground and overhauled the scene. All units cleared the scene at 1330 hrs.

The Solomons Volunteers would like to thank Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department for the opportunity to train with them. We would also like to thank both Waldorf and Hollywood Volunteer Fire Departments for filling in our station while we participated in this training.
