Sizzling in August still with our Officer Spotlight, Fire Lt. Rick Hargrave.

Rick started with SVRSFD in June 2015 as an Aide. Rick demonstrated above and beyond knowledge and leadership which lead him to be promoted to Vice President in 2017. He then went on to share his passion and leadership as Rescue Sgt. in 2019. In 2020 Rick was promoted to Fire Lt. which has been a wonderful asset in educating newcomers. "Providing leadership for 35 years in the Navy allows me to carry over skills I can incorporate in to better training our young members."

Rick's had a lifetime of service through the Navy prior to joining SVRSFD. When he retired he wanted to pursue his lifelong goal of volunteering. Rick had proudly served at Higgens Volunteer Department in Auburn, CA before going into Navy. Today he strives to "Make an impact on the community with a lifelong commitment."

With this Rick's goals are to help younger members by getting them to the point where they can take over and succeed us in the positions we are in. "Our youth is our future."

Rick utilizes his vast knowledge he has gained to do this. He has successfully completed his Fire1, EMT, High angled rope rescue, trench rescue, vehicle machinery extrication, Fire 2, EVOC pump operator, site operations, and is also one of our very valuable CPR instructors!

There really aren't enough words to show how much our family enjoys working with Rick and experiencing his contagious humor that comes along side with knowledge that has and will save lives!!
