Around 1959 hrs Calvert dispatched alerted departments of the brush fire threatening multiple homes on Western Shores Blvd in St. Leonard. Quickly Brush 3, Truck 3, Engine/Tanker 33 and Engine 31 responded to the scene. Crews initially arrived to find a large area of bamboo which had caught fire that began spreading towards multiple homes within the neighborhood. Multiple crews from surrounding stations in Calvert County as well as St. Marys and Charles County worked for several hours bringing the fire under control. Maryland Forestry Service dispatched a bulldozer to assist with the containment of the brush fire. Brush 3, with assistance from other units, operated in the back yard protecting other homes from any possible extension of the fire. The last Solomons unit cleared the scene at approximately 2200 hours.
