On Sunday, December 10th, 2023, at 4:34 PM Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 1395 Gregg rd. Chief 3 arrived on scene to find a two-story house with flames through the roof on the Charlie Delta corner. Minutes later Truck 3 and Engine Tanker 3 arrived on scene and commenced fire attack. A primary search of the residence was then completed. Company 3 was advised that there were five dogs still in the residence.

Four dogs were rescued from a bedroom on the Charlie side of the residence, unfortunately one was found deceased. The fire was declared under control in under one hour and crews remained on scene for an additional three hours to perform overhaul and salvage operations.
