One Trapped on Bridge

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Calvert 911 received several calls reporting a serious motor vehicle accident on the Thomas Johnson Bridge.

Emergency units from Solomons and neighboring departments responded quickly. Personnel from Company 3, along with Calvert Department of Emergency Services Chief 20 and Paramedic Ambulance 203, arrived to find a single SUV pinned against the jersey barrier. To safely reach the occupant, crews from Squad 3 and Bay District Engine 91 performed a passenger-side blowout operation.

After gaining access, responders removed the victim from the vehicle. The individual was evaluated, then transported to a nearby hangar for transfer to Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7. The victim was airlifted to an area trauma center.

Chief 3c (Bowen) was in command of the incident.
