| Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation and the fire service.
In remembrance of the lives lost 25 years ago, Truck 3 from the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad & Fire Department, alongside Tower 9 from Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, traveled to our local Mission BBQ and proudly displayed the American flag.
Today, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 members of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call. We also remember the countless first responders, recovery workers, military members, and others who have since lost their lives from 9/11-related cancers and illnesses.
For those of us in the fire service, September 11th remains a solemn reminder of courage, sacrifice, brotherhood, and service to others. Twenty-five years may have passed, but we will continue to honor their memory and tell their stories.
To everyone who stopped by today, looked up at the flag, and took a moment to remember with us, thank you.
