New Smoke Detector Laws

MAY 21 - A new Maryland law approved by Gov. Martin O'Malley takes effect July 1. It requires battery-operated smoke alarms in homes have batteries that last ten years. State fire officials hope the new technology and the new law will save lives.

Combined Evening Drill

MAY 16 - Tonite at 1900hrs members of the Solomons Firehouse met to conduct a full encompassing training drill. The drill conducted incorporated many different tasks that we conduct on scenes such as setting up ladders, manning the Truck master stream, drafting from the hydrant system, and relay pumping. Early Morning MVC

APRIL 28 - In the early morning hours units from Solomons and St. Leonard were alerted for a auto accident at Clubhouse Drive and Rousby Hall Rd. Units quickly marked up bringing Chief 3B, Rescue 3, Ambulance 38 to the scene. Chief 3B arrived on scene and established the 309 command advising a single vechicle that had struck a pole with damage to the pole with no wires down. Upon further examination revealed ... Late Nite Tanker Tranfer

APRIL 25 - At approximately 2230 hours St. Marys requested Solomons Tanker 3 to transfer to Bay District Station 3. At the time of the transfer units from Bay District, Hollywood, Ridge and various other departments were battling a fire at Spring Ridge Middle School their units operated on scene for close to 2 1/2 hours.
