Allison
Allison Dickson has been a member of the SVRSFD since March of 2015. Allison is being recognized as the Regular Member of the Month for May! Shortly after Allison joined our department, she got her EMT license and EVOC certification. She has been a sergeant, lieutenant and Captain of EMS. Currently, Allison is responsible for performing quality assurance on all of our EMTs' reports and also assists in completing station reports. Allison frequently rides the ambulance, as well as helping younger members and EMT class members learn their skills and complete assessments. Allison used to live in Australia, where she ran her own business and earned her bachelor's degree in Social Science with a focus on Psychology. She uses all she has learned to help the people around her in any way she can, and we are all grateful for her daily efforts.
We asked Allison what her favorite parts about being a volunteer and a member of the SVRSFD are, and this is what she said!
“I genuinely love to help people. It gives me a sense of purpose. I have always believed one should strive to be an asset to their community, and this helps me do that. I have always volunteered in different capacities from in a public hospital ER in Adelaide South Australia, the local day care center, school parent committees and the American Red Cross as a disaster responder. In addition to my passion for helping people, one thing I cannot deny is my heartfelt joy in sharing this experience with my children who are also volunteers at SVRSFD, Alex and Amy.”
We are so lucky to have someone as passionate as Allison as a member of our SVRSFD family! |
