Wrapping up the first month of the year is SVRSFD Member Spotlight, Fire Sgt. Alexander Dickson.

Alex started with SVRSFD in October 2019 as an Aide. During his 3 years here he has completed his NREMT, Fire1, EVOC, Site OPS, VME, and Pumps. Serving as a Firefighter for a little over a year, Alex has earned his promotion to Fire Sgt.

Head On MVA

Safety Officer Brian Bowen, January 18

Around 2200 hrs units from Solomons and St.Leonard were alerted for the MVA at Solomons Island Road and Rousby Hall Road. Engine 31 arrived on scene with Ambulance 239 to find a head on collision with one for check up. Squad 3 arrived and secured power to both cars and cleaned up the scene. One patient was transported to a local facility for check up . Company 3 units cleared in about 30 minutes.... (Full Story & Photos)

Charles has been with the SVRSFD for more than 15 years. He has brought so much knowledge and experience while adding to the growth of our department over time. Charles served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1965 with serving 4 years in the Missile Weapons Systems Field.

SUV vs Commercial Vehicle

At 1022 hrs the Solomons volunteers were alerted to the 100 block of Thunderbird drive in the CRE for a motor vehicle accident. Squad 3 and BLS Ambulance arrived on scene to find a SUV that had struck a forklift on the rear of a flatbed truck. The patient requested to be checkup before being released. Around 0030 hrs units from Solomons and St. Leonard were alerted to Rt.4 and Dowell Road for a single vehicle on its roof. While the ambulance was leaving the station from a previous came up on scene for this call to find a priority 1 patient unresponsive. At the November Business Meeting the Officers and Members were honored with placing in service our new Brush Truck (Brush 3). It is tradition that at the completion of the unit officially being placed in service over the radio by Calvert Communications the unit is pushed into the building by the members. It is a great pleasure to present Chief Jonathan Dalrymple as our next Officer Spotlight!

He started as a Junior Member with Prince Frederick VFD in 2000. During this time he became a Sgt. and Lt. also sitting on the Board of Directors.
