It is a great pleasure to present Chief Jonathan Dalrymple as our next Officer Spotlight!

He started as a Junior Member with Prince Frederick VFD in 2000. During this time he became a Sgt. and Lt. also sitting on the Board of Directors. Today completes the final tool mounting for our new Brush 3 unit. The department would like to thank First Due Apparatus Solutions and Parlett Gold Leaf & Graphics for the completion of the details on this apparatus. Let's sail into October with our Member Spotlight Firefighter/Fire Boat Operator Ryonn Taylor.

Ryonn joined SVRSFD April 25, 2007 as an Aide. He became a Firefighter in 2009 because he "wanted to be a part of something bigger than himself." In addition Ryonn has his VME and EVOC certificates.

Solomons Volunteers, October 01

At approximately 1140 hrs the Solomons Volunteers were alerted to an ATV accident within the woods. Crews quickly responded with an Ambulance and UTV crew to the scene. Crews had to travel approximately 1 mile into the woods where they found a patient who was thrown from her ATV. Kailin is truly an amazing person. She works in the ER at Calvert Health, Calvert Fire & EMS, while also maintaining her job in the ER at Children's Hospital. Over the last year the apparatus committee has worked with various vendors to design and develop the new Brush 3 Unit. After careful research and analysis the department awards the contract to Skeeter Brush Trucks. With the design process over the build of the unit will begin at the end of May. Within this story we will keep a running log of its construction and deployment within the department.

Passing of Past Chief Jim Taylor

The Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department is saddened to announce the Passing of PAST Chief Jim Taylor. Chief Taylor joined our department March 25, 1987. Through the years Jim held many positions on his way to becoming our Chief in 2011. He will truly be missed by all.
